Yoga in York at Tamsin Yoga, is a beautiful way to improve flexibility and strength, de-clutter the mind, become more focused, relaxed, find inner balance, let go of the past and breathe.

Each Yoga class will begin very relaxed and slow. Focusing on the breath, we will take the time to let go of the day and unwind. Slowly warming up with some gentle movement which will build up to some strengthening flowing stretches.

Once we warm up we will go deeper. Building strength and focus but staying relaxed and aware of the breath and each movement. Toward the end, there will pranayama (breathing technics) and guided visualisation. This leads to a deep relaxation ‘Yoga Nidra’ (Yogic sleep).

Pregnancy Yoga

These popular Pregnancy Yoga classes in York are a great way to stay flexible and mobile, throughout your pregnancy.

Postnatal, Mummy & Baby Yoga

Mum & Baby Yoga classes will help you build more core strength & flexibility. Yogic breath & pelvic floor exercises will be an important part of the practice.

In-Person classes start back on the 17th of May, some online Yoga Classes will continue.

As of May 17th, Yoga Classes will be back face to face but some classes will still be broadcast live on zoom. You can book a taster first before you commit to a class pass. Should you like to know more about our In-Person or online classes or for help joining a zoom class, then please feel free to contact me today.

We have In-person and zoom classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays, so you can always be sure to find a yoga practice that will suit your schedule. Our classes usually last around one hour and 15 minutes. We have both class passes and taster sessions available.

Yoga evolved several thousand years ago in India. Indian sages believed that by training the physical body, they could also train the mind, improving concentration and finding their inner self, inspired by nature and the world around them.

They observed the animals and watched their behaviour which led to the discovery of a range of postures that made humans feel good. They noticed the trees were both stable & flexible. Yet, are rooted firmly in the ground while their branches moved freely in the wind. Yogis believe humans can be happier if they are flexible like a tree, yet grounded and steadfast, standing tall like a mountain.

We practise Hatha Yoga. All classes emphasise the connection between the yogic asana, (posses) movement & breath. Focusing on bringing deep relaxation to the body. so releasing tension & creating peace of mind, are forefront.

What we now know in the west today as Hatha Yoga, brings together the mind, the body, and the breath & has evolved from these beginnings. Yoga is a journey that we can embark upon at any time in life. It can be practised by anyone no matter how fit they are.
